Limitations
The current version only supports reading the following image types from files:
8 bit paletted gray scale images
8 bit RGB paletted images
RGB 24 bit color images
RGBA 32 bit color images
Writing to file and reading/writing from strings is not currently supported.
Binary packages are only provided for i686 Linux and Windows.
